Friendly, patient help with technology. No jargon, no rush.

I'm Ross, and I help older adults and care homes feel confident with phones, tablets and computers. Whether you want to video call the grandchildren, spot a scam or just stop feeling left behind, I'll go at your pace and explain everything in plain English.

How I can help

There's no such thing as a silly question. Here are some of the things people ask me about most.

Phones and tablets

Setting up a new phone or tablet, making the text bigger, and getting comfortable with the buttons.

Staying in touch

Video calls, WhatsApp, photos and messages, so you can see and hear the people you love.

Staying safe from scams

How to spot a fake text, email or phone call, and what to do if something doesn't feel right.

Computers and email

Sending emails, finding things online, and keeping your computer running smoothly.

Everyday online tasks

Online shopping, booking a GP appointment, NHS App, banking apps and paying bills safely.

Feeling connected

Finding local groups, hobbies and friendly faces online, so nobody has to feel lonely.

How it works

I can visit you at home, help over the phone or a video call, or run a group session. Whatever suits you best.

  1. Have a free chatBook a time online or email me. Tell me what you'd like help with.
  2. We make a planI'll suggest the simplest way to help: one-to-one, remote, or a group session.
  3. We learn togetherI'll show you step by step, at your own pace, and leave you with easy notes to keep.
  4. I'm still hereIf you get stuck later, just get in touch. I'm happy to go over things again.

Scam safety

My three golden rules

  • Stop. Your bank or the police will never rush you or ask for your PIN or passwords.
  • Check. Hang up and call back on a number you trust, like the one on the back of your bank card.
  • Talk. Tell someone you trust. If you've been caught out, call your bank straight away and report it to Report Fraud on 0300 123 2040.

For care homes

I run relaxed, friendly group sessions for residents. They help people keep in touch with family, enjoy music, photos and video calls, and learn how to stay safe from scams. I can also help staff set up tablets and video-calling for residents.

About me

Hello, I'm Ross Batchelor. I've worked in IT since I was 16, so that's nearly 20 years of fixing, explaining and setting things up.

I started Nerd Tech Support because I kept seeing people being left behind as more and more of life moves online. I want everyone to feel confident, safe and connected, and nobody to feel lonely because of technology.

I'm patient, I'll never talk down to you, and I'll explain things in a way that makes sense.

Yes. I cover Greater London, the South East and Kent. I can also help over the phone or a video call.

Can a family member book for me?
